Even more progress, news tidbits, and more birthday news

I have set up some more interviews, and still have several in the wings waiting to be scheduled, so things are really picking up pace. I might have a couple of things to choose from in the run of things. I want to thank everyone for their support - you are all pulling for me in one capacity or another, and I appreciate all of it. Thank you.

Weekend was awesome...Heather and Michelle went to Branson, so I pretty much spent the weekend at Ben's. Friday night I hung with Beaver, Nix, Jess, and then later spent the night at Ben's after watching two late-night horror flicks. Saturday we went shopping for poker night, set everything up, did karaoke and watched sports. Then, poker night.

We had pizza, beer, chips, and soda. Scuba won the first practice free game. I won the second practice free game after a major comeback. Scuba, Jeremy, and Beaver split the pot three ways after a seemingly never-ending third "for money" game. I was the first to lose in the paid game, but played well, just had a mediocre to second-place hands compared to others. Damn you, shitty dealt cards! After that, Scuba left, we did some karaoke, then Jeremy left, and we watched a movie until we all got too tired.

Went to Rose's christening reception, and had a good time hanging with Posch, Kris, Jess, and the kids (along with Jess's family). Then went to Joe's, then home to hang with my beautiful wife. And that was my weekend.

Meatloaf should be making its comeback; we're going to do some filming of a trailer and a death sequence as test and prelim footage. This is dependent on time to do it, so stay tuned for right now.

Also, I have procured another GK memorabilia rarity - a 1996 Tour Itinerary booklet, complete with venue dates and locations, radio and appearance schedules, etc. This item was put out for the band and the crew. What an early birthday gift! Yay!

Here's the deal with Quill Day:

Saturday, August 19th is the day we will be gathering to celebrate my birthday. I am not yet sure exactly what we will be doing - we might be going out somewhere, we might just have people here and have drinks and food. Either way, something, in some capacity, will be happening party-wise for my birthday on this day.

Update - land of interviews

Things have been busy, between calling and networking, and tons of interviewing.

I have had some really awesome interviews, and one or two of them are bound to produce a job offer for me from all indications. No counting of chickens before they're hatched, however. Keep your fingers crossed, gang!

Tomorrow, Heather is going out of town with Michelle. Ben is going to have a guy's day/night on Saturday with barbeque and sports, karaoke and video games, poker, pizza, lots of beer, and good times. I also have a second interview tomorrow, so it's a very exciting day.

Nothing else of note to report so far - I'm rather glad things are quiet on the drama fronts. I can't handle all that bullshit at the moment, it adds stress. Nix and I found "Forever Evil: Director's Cut" yesterday at CD Warehouse. He is lucky I didn't have funds on me, because I grabbed it first. Well, "lucky" might not be the word - apparently, it's crap. Not TLSP levels of crap, but definitely on the same level of your Dawn of the Mummy type movies. Apparently.

(Forever Evil is a movie put out by the same video company that did The Last Slumber Party, and they even show a clip of the movie in TLSP. Nice!)

Speaking of crappy cinema, Nix and I had a little preliminary screening of Night Of Horror. Jesus tap-dancing Christ it is bad. Bad film quality, horrible audio, dull and uber-draggy plot and dialogue, non-existent acting. One thing I noticed going in is that unlike The Last Slumber Party, the shitty video quality stays the same and doesn't change every scene. And as poor as the lighting is, it's still THERE and not as bright at times as in Steven Tyler's "opus" of crud. Tony Malinowski, you are definitely a contender here, but I'm thinking Tyler's going to trump you. We shall see.

@Heather: I hope you ladies have a good time in Branson. Don't have too much fun without me, babe. I love you.

Oh, and my birthday is coming up in less than a month. Although this year it is on a Sunday, I am tentatively* making plans for a big party over here on Saturday night, August 19th. Quill Day is once again coming. It'll start around 5, we'll have the usual food spread, music, drinks, all around fun. Be there.

*tentatively meaning that nothing solid is planned, except that there WILL be a party in some capacity to celebrate my birthday on August 19th

Another lovely update.

The job search is going well. I've had some prospects run into dead ends, but I've still got several others on the horizon and in the works. The wheels are in motion, and I'm constantly digging up new leads, so all is well. Something is bound to break for me soon.

Scott had his birthday party last night. It was a good time. It was great seeing everyone and just hanging out and having fun. Happy birthday again, Scott.

Night Of Horror is finally in my possession, which means we will soon pit it against The Last Slumber Party for the title of "worst" horror movie ever. It's going to be quite a crapfest...hopefully, I'll be able to get together with Mr. Joe to get this bad boy transferred over to DVD this week.

If you haven't seen either of these movies, or even never heard of them...they're crap. Seriously. But me, I love a good "bad" movie; something you can make fun of and laugh at because it's so horrible. If you can't stand watching movies that just look awful, these are definitely not for you.

I picked up Cemetery Man on DVD from my anniversary gift card. I am looking forward to enjoying that this week.

Happy 3rd Wedding Anniversary!

3 Years. Wow. Seems like just yesterday we were getting married...

@Heather: Even though things are kinda rough right now with me, this is the best day. I am married to the most wonderful person I've ever known, who believes in me and loves and accepts me for who I am, and would bear any burden both with and for me. I love you, angel, with all my heart and soul.

Today: Interview, then back home for anniversary activities.
Tomorrow: Meeting with recruiter, interview, calls and networking and job hunting.
Beyond: Many good and positive things.

Check in with you all later. Keep sending those good wishes my way...

Updates

Well, the job search is going very well so far. I've got a few things in the works and some prospects on the horizon, plus an interview next week on Wednesday, so...yay!

Corey has officially launched his newest website for S.P.I.T. - St. Louis Paranormal Investigative Team. Check it out, won't you? While it's not the most professional-looking site I've seen, it shows much promise and it actually presents the group pretty seriously. (You can also get there by clicking on the title of this blog.)

Call me a greedy bastard...but I couldn't resist. I now own TWO "Guilty" Promo Gavels. This one came with a little base with a plaque that currently reads "Judge Bob O" on it with the TVT logo. I'm going to see if I can change that to Judge Quill or something. If not, no big deal, as I still now own two of a very rare and coveted merch item among GK fans.

The Last Slumber Party vs. Night Of Horror is coming. I need to receive the tape in the mail first (it was only released on VHS), and then have Mr. Joe transfer it to DVD. Then, the madness can begin. (BTW, in case anyone has been wondering why I color the titles like that - that's the color of the titles from the respective boxes. Yeah, that's the only reason.)

This coming up Wednesday is my 3 year wedding anniversary. I can't believe it's only been 3 years, it's been so awesome I feel like it's been forever. But hey, 3 years and still going strong. Love you baby!

And now, I leave you guys with a final thought: If you can dream it, you can do it.

Post-4th Blog

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July holiday. I know I did. Family, food, and fun. It was quite an f-ing good time. Hehe.

@Ben & Michelle: Thanks for having us over, guys. It was awesome.

The other day I thanked some supportive friends, but forgot to thank someone else.

@Heather: I didn't even think to say thanks in my blog, because I guess I'm just so used to you being there for me and believing in me. You have always been at my back and helping me to push myself, and you've always supported me against all odds. This time is no different, and I am more grateful for that than you'll ever be able to know. Thank you, Heather. For everything. I love you.

Back to it.

Thanks and more stuff...

For those just tuning in, I'm in between estimating positions again. Things are looking up, however, and I'm poised and ready for the next opportunity, this time with the experience, skills, and references to get me even farther than last time.

@ - Jon, Michelle, Scott & "nutjob": Thank you for the support and well-wishes. I appreciate it.

@Scott: Yes, there will be beer soon...

It's been awhile, but I had mentioned a few posts back that the newest DVD list was forthcoming. No time like the present, right?

Night Of Horror

*These are particularly, deliciously awful...

Yes, those are a lot of new additions; but then again, they might be the only new stuff for a little bit here, depending. Night Of Horror is particularly heralded by The Agony Booth as being [quite possibly] the "worst" movie ever made.

However...I happen to think my The Last Slumber Party is worse. We shall see, as we will soon compare the two in a dueling review type setting (which will probably appear on Tomb Of Anubis in some capacity). Either way, whoever reviews it with me and Nix will have a 'night of horror' themselves and it will likely be 'the last slumber party' they ever comes to with bad movie watching involved...little humor there. Heh.

Anyway, tomorrow is the 4th of July. Scott is not here to host his habitual 'bash with a bomb' as it were, so Heather and I are spending it at Ben and Michelle's new place. Jason "Yoda" is hosting an event at his mom's place, and I'm not sure what else, if anything, is going down. In any event, I wish all of you - readers and non-readers alike - a happy and safe July 4th. Don't go 'splodey and getting yourselves hurt.

Well, it is time to cook dinner, and then out for the evening to Ben and Michelle's. I will check in soon, and update you all with my progress with the whole job searching thing. Keep me in your thoughts and send me good luck wishes.
