...the quickie blog...

@Heather: You're very welcome, sexy. :)

Mandy D. was over last night. It was a bit awkward for me, having her there. However, I do want to point out that she's much, much, MUCH more respectful towards people now. And much nicer. We all had good conversation.

New Year's is coming up. Come what may, it will be a good drinking time.

...the return of the king (of quill) (again)...

It's been awhile. I've been kinda busy for the holiday season. Sorry about that...

@Heather: You're going to love your Christmas presents this year. I guarentee it. Love you! Last night was awesome, baby...

As you may be able to tell, I got all my shopping done this past weekend. Now, all I have left is wrapping. The malls are NUTS this time of year, and it's a testament to my patience and pleasant nature that I was able to go the entire time smiling in the spirit of the season. :)

One of the bigger things in the works is the "Ultimate Guy's Night" planned for January 8th. If you don't know the details, here it is in a nutshell:

Jan. 8th - Scott's place - everyone brings at least $25 - contact Steve or Scott for more details.

There will be much alcohol and plenty of charred meat for everyone. It should be a good time; the rowdy guy's night we've talked about for a couple of years now.

The issue with Beaver has been hanging for a bit. Heather has made a decision that is her total right to make, and I fully support it. I know some don't understand, and some may think it harsh or unfair, but that's the deal nonetheless. I have yet to sit down for a talk with Beaver over everything, but that should happen as soon as this Christmas holiday stuff dies down. (As I said before, while I realize people don't want to hear it, this IS my journal.)

I need to set aside some time this January to rebuild some of my swords. I fully plan on making a trip or two down to Springfield this spring for some foam sword action. I miss it. Not that I can't sword fight HERE. Dave and Scott are better at it than they give themselves credit for, and I've come to find Nix does amp-guard type stuff himself. However, I've yet to find two sword fighters who give me as good a run for my money as Tom and Jon.

Well, in case I don't get to update again before Christmas, have a good one and bless you all!

...Xmas time fun, and don't forget to visit the KOQ Forum...

Hey guys. Christmas time is upon us all, and over the next few days, I'm going to be doing that all-favorite thing - shopping for presents. Ick.

@Heather: I've noticed that the Christmas season is picking up your spirits. I'm glad. I love you, sweetheart...have fun tonight.

In other news, everyone seems to be starting their own forum boards now. Heck, I originally started mine for everyone I know to mingle, but later changed it's purpose to something much more. Now, Corey has started his own board, because he can't get into Scott's. So please, take a moment to check out "Boner King's (Phonics-Challenged Sex) Board", won't you?

Don't forget to sign up for the KOQ Insult/Satire Forum if you haven't already...it's a 100% conflict-free board, and it's fun as hell.

Speaking of Corey, he never showed last night at Joe's. I hope he's okay.

I posted a not-so-nice comment on Fran's blog the other day. I gather that she's not happy about it. Oh well. It's one thing to not be interested in Joe, that's fine. It's another thing to constantly say negative things about him EVERY DAY.

...funny, I have no title for this one...

Beaver, I know you finally took it upon yourself to come forth and apologize to Heather for things said. I know that she didn't speak with you as you thought she would. I know you may be thinking that Heather is unreasonable and unfair.

I want you to know that even though your apology came a little later than most, I congratulate you on doing it. I also want you to know that Heather and I got into a big fight over this just about twenty minutes ago. I yelled at her for being so short with you, and for not giving you a chance to at least say that you were sorry. I just wanted you to know that, before you go and say I don't stick up for my friends or something, or claim I take Heather's side in everything. I DID speak up for you.

Look, man - for Heather, you crossed a line. You really hurt her by saying the things you did. Not to bring up old shit, but this isn't the first time, or even the tenth, that you've done that to her. She gets more mad about the countless times you dog on me like you did in this latest situation. She gets mad at how "events" and "misunderstandings" just like this recent one happen with great frequency between us. Oh sure, I'm at fault as much as you are for them, be it miscommunication or saying something out of anger. But when the smoke clears, I have apologized. You always take a little while for that. And I'll tell you this - I realized something.

I constantly argue my viewpoint on why I don't hang with Joe D. anymore. I say that I won't carry a grudge, but I can't be stabbed in the back anymore. Everyone understands this, and why wouldn't they? After all, that's a pretty strong and valid point. But tonight, I got in a fight with my wife for feeling the same way in this situation, and for me to fault her for it would be hypocritical.

Right now, Heather is that way with you. On more than one occasion, you have gone off on her about me, her, or something involving me; you've treated her in a less-than-respectful manner several times. She feels stepped on by you and she feels that forgiving yet again would be allowing herself to be walked on.

For anyone that might think that Heather is being unfair, consider that she doesn't want to be walked on anymore. Each of us has that right to stand up for themselves like that, and many of us have. I can't and don't blame Heather for feeling the way she does. I don't wish to hear that Heather is being unfair, either; she is not being unfair. She is tired of this same deal happening between herself and Dan.

Dan...you and I have a long history of friendship between us. I will say that as of late, you haven't always been kind about things between you and I. I don't want there to be any trouble between us. I don't want us to be enemies. But I need you to understand that you DID act unfairly to Heather and she DID take great offense to that, and she has made a personal decision to not forgive and forget. I support her in that. I don't support her because she's my wife; I support her because I can't blame her for feeling that way. Neither can you, because YOU were the one that did it. I am your friend; out of respect for our tenure of friendship and because I am uber-forgiving in nature, I begrudgingly forgive you (again), but we still need to talk. I myself am also growing tired of this.

Heather, I am very sorry that this had to be something for us to fight about. Understand that I've never had to battle out over loyalties before, and I was confused and angry and upset. I love you, and I understand why you feel the way you do about this, and I will defend it and support it.

Dan, as I said before - it should be commended that you did apologize. I recognize that. But you must understand that sometimes lines are crossed and it's hard to go back.

To everyone who reads my blog - I posted this because I wanted there to be perfect clarity about this situation. Our group is a group where rumors spread like wildfire, and I wanted you all to not only understand what my viewpoints were, but to also understand Heather's. I wanted everyone to be able to hear this from the source, instead of through the Juice-vine.

I know some are tired of hearing about it. But you know what? I have kept it off of the boards. I do not discuss it with anyone unless they ask me about it. This is Quilled Scripts, my personal blog journal, and I felt like addressing it. I apologize if you didn't want to hear/read about it, but then again, you opened the browser, did you not?

Howard Dean On The Future of the Democratic Party

(Tom sent me this, and I felt it needed to be posted. I just want to say, I don't personally affiliate myself under one specific party - I, like my parents, vote for the man, not the group. However, I DO tend to share more views with Democratic candidates than with Republican candidates, so it may seem like I favor the Democrats more; but that's not the deal. I just feel the way I feel, and I feel many problems have come about as a direct result of the Republican party overall. A handful of "good" Republican runners does not a "good" party make.)

Remarks by Governor Howard Dean On the Future of the Democratic Party
    The George Washington University
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you, Melissa, for that introduction. It's a pleasure to be here.

Let me tell you what my plan for this Party is:

We're going to win in Mississippi

    ...and Alabama

    ...and Idaho

    ...and South Carolina.

Four years ago, the President won 49 percent of the vote. The Republican Party treated it like it was a mandate, and we let them get away with it.

Fifty one percent is not a mandate either. And this time we're not going to let them get away with it.

Our challenge today is not to re-hash what has happened, but to look forward, to make the Democratic Party a 50-state party again, and, most importantly, to win.

To win the White House and a majority in Congress, yes. But also to do the real work that will make these victories possible -- to put Democratic ideas and Democratic candidates in every office -- whether it be Secretary of State, supervisor of elections, county commissioner or school board member.

Here in Washington, it seems that after every losing election, there's a consensus reached among decision-makers in the Democratic Party is that the way to win is to be more like Republicans.

I suppose you could call that philosophy: if you didn't beat 'em, join them.

I'm not one for making predictions -- but if we accept that philosophy this time around, another Democrat will be standing here in four years giving this same speech. We cannot win by being "Republican-lite." We've tried it; it doesn't work.

The question is not whether we move left or right. It's not about our direction. What we need to start focusing on... is the destination.

There are some practical elements to the destination.

The destination of the Democratic Party requires that it be financially viable, able to raise money not only from big donors but small contributors, not only through dinners and telephone solicitations and direct mail, but also through the Internet and person-to-person outreach.

The destination of the Democratic Party means making it a party that can communicate with its supporters and with all Americans. Politics is at its best when we create and inspire a sense of community. The tools that were pioneered in my campaign -- like blogs and Meetups and most importantly, community building -- are just a start. We must use all of the power and potential of technology as part of an aggressive outreach to meet and include voters, to work with the state parties and to influence media coverage.

The most practical destination is winning elective office. And we must do that at every level of government.

The way we will rebuild the Democratic Party is not from consultants down, but from the ground up.

We have some successes to build on. We raised more money than the RNC, and we did so by attracting thousands of new small donors. This is the first time in my memory that the DNC is not coming out of a national campaign in debt. We trained tens of thousands of new activists.

We put together the most sophisticated get-out-the-vote operation our Party has ever had. We registered millions of new voters, including a record number of minority and young voters. And we saw those new voters overwhelmingly vote Democrat.

Now we need to build on our successes while transforming the Democratic Party into a grassroots organization that can win in 50 states.

I have seen all the doomsday predictions that the Democratic Party could shrink to become a regional Party. A Party of the Northeast and the Pacific Northwest.

We cannot be a Party that seeks the presidency by running an 18-state campaign. We cannot be a party that cedes a single state, a single District, a single precinct, nor should we cede a single voter.

As many of the candidates supported by my organization Democracy for America showed -- people in places that we've too long ignored are hungry for an alternative; they're hungry for new ideas and new candidates, and they're willing to elect Democrats.

Since we started Democracy for America last March, we raised over $5 million, mostly from small donors.

That money was used to help 748 candidates in 46 states and at every level of government.
We helped a Democratic governor get elected in Montana and a Democratic mayor get elected in Salt Lake County, Utah.

We helped Lori Saldana in San Diego. Lori, a Latina grassroots environmental organizer was outspent in both the primary and the general, won a seat on the state assembly.

We also helped Anita Kelly become the first African-American woman elected to her circuit court in Montgomery, Alabama.

Fifteen of the candidates who we helped win last month never ran for elective office before.

And in Texas, a little known candidate who had been written off completely ran the first competitive race against Tom Delay in over a decade.

And others who lost came very close, including Scott Kawasaki who lost by only 45 votes in an Alaska state legislative race -- in a very Republican state. We can win in these states, and we will.

There are no red states or blue states, just American states. And if we can compete at all levels and in the most conservative parts of the country, we can win... at any level and anywhere.

People will vote for Democratic candidates in Texas, and Alabama and Utah if we knock on their door, introduce ourselves and tell them what we believe.

There is another destination beyond strong finances, outreach and campaigns.

That destination is a better, stronger, smarter, safer, healthier America.

An America where we don't turn our back on our own people.

That's the America we can only build with conviction.

When some people say we should change direction, in essence they are arguing that our basic or guiding principles can be altered or modified.

    They can't.

On issue after issue, we are where the majority of the American people are.

What I want to know is, at what point did it become a radical notion to stand up for what we believe?

Over fifty years ago, Harry Truman said, "We are not going to get anywhere by trimming or appeasing. And we don't need to try it."

Yet here we are still making the same mistakes.

Let me tell you something: there's only one thing Republican power brokers want more than for us to lurch to the left -- and that's for us to lurch to the right.

What they fear most is that we may really begin fighting for what we believe -- the fiscally responsible, socially progressive values for which Democrats have always stood and fought.

I'll give this to Republicans. They know the America they want. They want a government so small that, in the words of one prominent Republican, it can be drowned in a bathtub. They want a government that runs big deficits, but is small enough to fit into your bedroom.

They want a government that is of, by and for their special interest friends.

They want a government that preaches compassion but practices division.

They want wealth rewarded over work.

And they are willing to use any means to get there.

In going from record surpluses to record deficits, the Republican Party has relinquished the mantle of fiscal responsibility.

And now they're talking about borrowing another $2 trillion to take benefits away from our Senior Citizens.

In going from record job creation to record job loss, they have abandoned the mantle of economic responsibility.

In cutting health care, education, and community policing programs... and in failing to invest in America's inner cities, or distressed rural communities... they certainly have no desire to even claim the mantle of social responsibility.

In their refusal to embrace real electoral reform or conduct the business of government in the light of day, they are hardly the model of civic responsibility.

In their willingness to change the rules so that their indicted leaders can stay in power, they have even given up any claim on personal responsibility.

And in starting an international conflict based on misleading information, I believe they have abdicated America's moral responsibility, as well.

There is a Party of fiscal responsibility... economic responsibility... social responsibility... civic responsibility... personal responsibility... and moral responsibility.

    It's the Democratic Party.

We need to be able to say strongly, firmly, and proudly what we believe.

Because we are what we believe.

And we believe every person in America should have access to affordable health care. It is wrong that we remain the only industrialized nation in the world that does not assure health care for all of its citizens.

We believe the path to a better future goes directly through our public schools. I have nothing against private schools, parochial schools and home schooling. Parents with the means and inclination should choose whatever they believe is best for their children. But those choices must never come at the expense of what has been -- and must always be -- the great equalizer in our society; public education.

We believe that if you put in a lifetime of work, you have earned a retirement of dignity -- not one that is put at risk by your government or unethical business practices.

The first time our nation balanced its budget, it was Andrew Jackson, father of the Democratic Party, who did it. The last time our nation balanced its budget, it was Bill Clinton who did it. I did it every year as Governor. Democrats believe in fiscal responsibility and we're the only ones who have delivered it.

We believe that every single American has a voice and that it should be heard in the halls of power everyday. And it most certainly must be heard on Election Day. Democracies around the world look to us as a model. How can we be worthy of their aspirations when we have not done enough to guarantee accurate elections for our own citizens.

We believe in a strong and secure America... and we believe we will be stronger by having a moral foreign policy.

We need to embrace real political reform -- because only real reform will pry government from the grasp of the special interests who fight against reform and progress.

The pundits have said that this election was decided on the issue of moral values. I don't believe that. It is a moral value to provide health care. It is a moral value to educate our young people. The sense of community that comes from full participation in our Democracy is a moral value. Honesty is a moral value.

If this election had been decided on moral values, Democrats would have won.

It is time for the Democratic Party to start framing the debate.

We have to learn to punch our way off the ropes.

We have to set the agenda.

We should not hesitate to call for reform -- reform in elections, reform in health care and education, reforms that promote ethical business practices.

And, yes, we need to talk about some internal reform in the Democratic Party as well, and I'll be discussing that more specifically in the days ahead.

Reform is the hallmark of a strong Democratic Party.

Those who stand in the way of reform cannot be the focus of our attention for only four months out of every four years.

    Reform is a daily battle.

And we must pursue those reforms with conviction -- every day, at all levels, in 50 states.

A little while back, at a fundraiser, a woman came up to me. She identified herself as an evangelical Christian from Texas. I asked her what you are all wondering -- why was she supporting me. She said there were two reasons. The first was that she had a child who had poly-cystic kidney disease, and that the illness made it impossible for their family to get health insurance.

The second thing she said was, "The real reason we're with you is because evangelical Christians are people of deep conviction, and you're a person of deep conviction.
We may not agree with you on everything, but what we want more than anything else from our government is that when something happens to our family or something happens to our country -- it's that the people in office have deep conviction."

We are what we believe. And the American people know it.

And I believe that over the next two... four... ten years...

    Election by election...

    State by state...

    Precinct by precinct...

    Door by door...

    Vote by vote...

We're going to lift our Party up...

And we're going to take this country back for the people who built it.

    ...soreness and sadness...

Today I am both sore and saddened.

I’m sore because I started back up my workout schedule, and the first week is always overly painful. Tonight will be FUN for sure.

I’m sad because last night, I lost a very good friendship. I honestly did not want to. Beaver has always been like a kid brother to me, but this time he really pushed me. I know no one wants to hear about it, so I’ll leave it at that. Just wanted – needed – everyone to understand that this is not something I wanted. Call me or email me if you want to discuss it or have questions.

@Dan: I’m sorry things had to be this way.

    @Heather: I love you.

In other news, Hizzy’s band is starting it’s own label, Blood Symphony Records. I have no doubt that this will be a positive move in the right direction for them, and I wish them all the best of luck!

Corey is ok, for those who don’t know. The surgery went just fine (he had testicular cancer and had to have his right one removed), and he is home, resting and recovering. Keep fighting the good fight, Corey.

The hell of holiday shopping is looming like a dark cloud over me. I love the holiday season, but you gotta hate going to those malls and stores at this time of year. Everything is just so…insane. You’re elbow to elbow with EVERYONE in existence, and you all seem to be after the SAME items. It really is the suck disease.

...Superman, Megasite, training start, same old song and dance...

    Tonight, another ‘Smallville’. Then, cleaning.

Corey is recovering from his surgery, one-less nut later. If you haven't already called him (and really...shame on you if you haven't), give him a ring. He would really love the support.

The NEW Bug-Juice Megasite has been posted for viewing, just a fraction of what it’s going to be once we get it finished. Go and take a look, won’t you?
  • NEW Bug-Juice Megasite

  • I worked out with Joe last night…it was fun and painful. I found out I’m not as rusty at this as I thought, as I’m barely sore at all today. Thursday, I’ll be hitting it with more intensity. One must ease into these things, after all.

The "Fran Situation" keeps twisting more than a soap opera. Now, it seems it might be The Voice from the Council Chambers. Something is fishy about all that, though; it's a little too convenient the way things are coming to light the way they are.

Sometimes, it's like I'm cursed. I make one innocent comment on the message board about how there should be dance music at this coming New Year's party, and I get jumped on, with my words twisted and taken out of context. Presently, I'm being called someone who doesn't "care" about my friends - because I supposedly "want to play nothing but dance music even if no one else wants to listen to it." Yeah, I'm real unfair, aren't I? I just figured we could cater to EVERYONE'S musical preferences, through people bringing CDs, rather than just rock or metal due to majority; or an mp3 playlist that, while 5000-songs impressive, might not have something for everyone to enjoy in the long run. After all, I've never gone to the mat and stuck my neck out for anyone. I've never gone down to Cape to visit a friend because it meant something to them (and hey, funny how to this day I'm the only one that bothered). I've never called Corey the day of his surgery and the next day to see how he was feeling (and surprise, to this day I'm the only one that has). I didn't take time and money to visit Campo in Cape, who was moving away to California. I've never practiced fairness even when it bit me in the ass for my troubles (like with Erich; and Joe D.). I've never driven to Wentzville to bring a down-on-his-luck friend food and friendship in the middle of the night. I'm a real asshole alright. Yeah.

Isn't it funny how all the good you do, all the favors you do, are quickly forgotten when people take something out of context and don't "get" the real message?

I don't know WHY it's believed that I'm a "control-monger" who seeks to be the grand puppet master behind everything that goes on in the group. I don't see HOW it could be said that I "don't care" about my friends. I guess THIS is the thanks I get for all of the above, and for all my attempts to hold an ever-crumbling group united through advocation, the website, and planned parties and events. Thanks, guys. Mean it. (Note: It's not everyone I'm talking about here; some people actually have a brain and "get" it. Others don't.)

    · In the 18 months following the 9/11 attacks I have successfully prevented any public investigation into the biggest security failure in the history of the United States.
    · Removed more freedoms and civil liberties for Americans than any other president in U.S. history.
    · In a little over two years created the most divided country in decades, possibly the most divided the U.S. has ever been since the Civil War.
    · Entered office with the strongest economy in U.S. history and in less than two years turned every single economic category heading straight down.

    ...weekend report...

    It was a good weekend.

Friday was the Scarlet Whore show, and it rocked. There wasn’t much of a pit, I think at most only five people were involved; but I was one of those people, and I kicked some ass (in a friendly way, of course). The music was awesome; they really are great live. After the band played, we went and got food and went back to Gyrog’s for a few minutes. We ended up leaving because I drove, and I didn’t want to be around the pot stuff.

Saturday was fun as well, the apartment was once again cleaned, and Heather cleaned the computer/workout room. Ben, Michelle, Scuba, and Quazi came over. We had Jell-O shots and beer.

Sunday was a bum-around day. Not much happened, and it was relaxing.

One good thing that took place Saturday is that the seed of a huge BJ event was planted. I can’t go into any detail about it, but something is in the works.

As I said, the workout room is now clean and ready for use. Tomorrow is the inaugural “kill myself” day. I’ve done some light stuff off and on, but tomorrow night will be the first real heavy workout.

Quilled Tunes: “Knuckle Up” – Scarlet Whore

Quilled HOTD (Humor Of The Day):

    To be a Republican:

    1. You have to believe that government shouldn't subsidize AIDS research but funding cancer-spreading tobacco companies is allright.

    2. You have to believe that 12-year-old children are too young to be taught about sex but old enough to be tried for crimes as adults.

    3. You have to believe that state registration of handguns is tyranny, but medical companies should be able to collect and distribute data about everybody's medical problems and spending habits.

    4. You have to believe that people have no right to be offended, except for flag burning and art questioning religious authorities.

    5. You have to believe that anti-enviromentalist think tanks funded by timber and fossil fuel companies are good source for information, but Census Bureau statistics are biased.

    6. You have to believe that women who complain about sexual harassment are just uptight feminazis, but gays shouldn't be allowed to military, because straight guys might get upset about being in same shower with them.

    7. You have to support banning abortion, but oppose regulating chemical companies for exposing pregnant women to chemicals and pesticides causing countless unwanted miscarriages.

    8. You have to believe that government spends way too much, except when your congressman manages to get order for 1.5 billion helicopter carrier that military doesn't even want for your home district.

    9. You have to believe that all that global warming stuff is just scare talk from enviromentalist wackos, and the day when there are more members of minorities than whites in United States will mark the destruction of social order.

    10. You have to believe in the value of hard work, to be rewarded with its intrinsic character-building benefits, but not with an actual living wage.

    11. You have to believe that when George Bush Sr. bombs Iraq after arming it with taxpayer money for years it's fight for democracy, but when Bill Clinton bombs Serbia for attempting a genocide it's unwanted interference to national sovereignty.

    12. You have to believe that ACLU doesn't represent free speech, but FreeRepublic.com, notorious from banning anyone who doesn't go in lockstep with conservative line, does.

    13. You have to believe that social programs like Head Start waste taxpayer money, but a national missile defense system based on an interceptor that can't even pass rigged tests is in America's best interest.

    14. You have to believe that best way to make children upstanding citizens is to lie to them about what Christopher Columbus really did.

    15. You have to believe that Clarence Thomas and Condoleezza Rice aren't hypocrites for opposing affirmative action even though Thomas got to law school and Rice became provost in Stanford because of it.

    16. You have to believe that George W. Bush won in a landslide because he won such an amount of counties.

    17. You have to believe that entire world outside US and 50% of nation's populace became socialists the minute after Reagan single-handedly won the Cold War.

    18. You have to believe that the congressmen that professed disgust at Clinton’s sexual behavior had the moral high ground even when their own extra marital affairs were exposed.

    19. You have to believe that two men shouldn't be shown kissing on TV because it's simply revolting, but displaying pictures of dead fetuses to protest abortion is all in good taste.

    20. You have to believe that states' rights should always be superior to federal government, unless they hinder election of Republican presidents.

    21. You have to believe that Carter was bad because of bad economy and despite lack of scandals, Clinton was bad because of all those scandals and despite good economy, and Bush Sr. was good despite bad economy and scandals.

    22. You have to believe that the mainstream media which uses fact checkers and portrays both sides of the story is biased, but the internet tabloids that operate on rumors are not.

    23. You have to believe free speech means your right to use terms that insult people and not get called on it.

    24. You have to believe in unchanging morality expressed through the word of God yet you forgive the Founders for owning slaves on the grounds that we can't judge them by our standards.

You Might Be A Republican If...

You Might Be A Republican If...
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

You think "proletariat" is a type of cheese.

You've tried to argue that poverty could be abolished if people were just allowed to keep more of their minimum wage.

You've ever referred to someone as "my (insert racial or ethnic minority here) friend".

You've ever tried to prove Jesus was a capitalist and opposed to welfare.

You're a pro-lifer, but support the death penalty.

You think Huey Newton is a cookie.

The only union you support is the Baseball Players, because heck, they're richer than you.

You think you might remember laughing once as a kid.

You once broke loose at a party and removed your necktie.

You call mall rent-a-cops "jack-booted thugs."

You've ever referred to the moral fiber of something.

You've ever uttered the phrase, "Why don't we just bomb the sons of bitches."

You've ever said, "I can't wait to get into business school."

You've ever called a secretary or waitress "Tootsie."

    You answer to "The Man."

You don't think "The Simpsons" is all that funny, but you watch it because that Flanders fellow makes a lot of sense.

You fax the FBI a list of "Commies in my Neighborhood."

You don't let your kids watch Sesame Street because you accuse Bert and Ernie of "sexual deviance."

You scream, "Dit-dit-ditto" while making love.

You've argued that art has a "moral foundation set in Western values."

When people say "Marx," you think "Groucho."

You've ever yelled, "Hey hippie, get a haircut."

You think Birkenstock was that radical rock concert in 1969.

You argue that you need 300 handguns, in case a bear ever attacks your home.

Vietnam makes a lot of sense to you.

You point to Hootie and the Blowfish as evidence of the end of racism in America.

You've ever said “civil liberties, schmivil schmiberties.”

You've ever said "Clean air? Looks clean to me."

You've ever called education a luxury.

You look down through a glass ceiling and chuckle.

You wonder if donations to the Pentagon are tax-deductable.

You came of age in the '60s and don't remember Bob Dylan.

You own a vehicle with an "Ollie North: American Hero" sticker.

You're afraid of the liberal media.

You ever based an argument on the phrase, "Well, tradition dictates...."

You ever told a child that Oscar the Grouch "lives in a trash can because he is lazy and doesn't want to contribute to society."

You've ever urged someone to pull themselves up by their bootstraps, when they don't even have shoes.

    You confuse Lenin with Lennon.

If you believe the government should stay out of the church’s business, then believe in faith based initiatives, you might be a Republican.

If you believe Saddam Hussein needs to be bombed, but that Mubarak and Musharif need American aid, and China needs most favored nation trading status, you might be a Republican.

If you believe Machiavelli was right, you might be a Republican.

If you believe that the government is violating our rights, then support the Patriot Act, you might be a Republican.

If you believe that deficits are bad, but pass tax cuts without corresponding program reductions, you might be a Republican.

If you believe that we are fighting this war to defend American values, then want to hang all the war protesters, you might be a Republican.

If you believe in the right to keep and bear arms, but want to destroy Iraq and North Korea for the weapons that they possess, you might be a Republican.

If you think mentioning Buddha or Mohammed in schools violates the separation of church and state, but want the kids to keep pledging allegiance to a nation “under God”, you might be a Republican.

If you do not believe in a “vast, right wing conspiracy,” but DO believe in a “vast left wing conspiracy”, you might be a Republican.

If you believe that television news is biased and left wing, but believe that Rush Limbaugh and Micheal Savage are fair and balanced, you might be a Republican.

If you believe Donald Rumsfeld is sane, you might be a Republican.

If you believe that Clinton was immoral because of his affair with the office staff, but believe Eisenhower was a great man despite his affair with his secretary, you might be a Republican.

If you think it was unfair that Lincoln got shot, but great that Kennedy got shot, you might be a Republican.

If you STILL think it is all Clinton’s fault, you might be a Republican.

If you believe that John Ashcroft is really interested in justice, you might be a Republican.

If you believe Texans riding around in armed pickup trucks are just expressing their freedoms, but Afghans riding around in armed pickup trucks are a grave threat to America’s freedom, you might be a Republican. AND a redneck.

If you believe anything coming out of Paul Wolfowitz’s mouth, you are seriously deluded, plus maybe a republican.

If you believe that Bush prefers war to diplomacy because it is easier to spell, you are almost as cynical as me.

If you believe that anyone who can see through the steaming fetid pile of bovine excrement that passes for GOP rhetoric is a liberal, you might be a Republican.

If you believe it is worth destroying a 225 year old alliance with France just to smash a petty two-bit tyrant, you might be a republican.

You've ever uttered the phrase, "Why don't we just bomb the sons of bitches."

You've named your kids "Deduction one" and "Deduction two"

You've tried to argue that poverty could be abolished if people were just allowed to keep more of their minimum wage.

Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime,
unless you are millionaire conservative radio jock,
which makes it an "illness" and needs our prayers for
    your "recovery".

You have to believe that those privileged from birth
achieve success all on their own.

You have to believe that the US should get out of
the UN, and that our highest national priority is
    enforcing UN resolutions against Iraq.

You have to believe that government should stay out
of people's lives but it needs to punish anyone caught
having private sex with the "wrong" gender.

You have to believe that pollution is ok, so long as
    it makes a profit.

You have to believe in prayer in schools, as long as
you don't pray to Allah or Buddha.

"Standing Tall for America" means firing your
workers and moving their jobs to India.

You have to believe that a woman cannot be trusted
with decisions about her own body, but that large
    multi-national corporations can make decisions
affecting all mankind with no regulation whatsoever.

You have to believe that you love Jesus and Jesus
loves you, and that Jesus shares your hatred of AIDS
    victims, homosexuals, and Hillary Clinton.

You hate the ACLU for representing convicted
felons, but they owed it to the country to bail out
    Oliver North.

You have to believe that the best way to encourage
military morale is to praise the troops overseas while
    cutting their VA benefits.

You believe that group sex and drug use are
degenerate sins that can only be purged by running for
governor of California as a Republican.

You have to believe it is wise to keep condoms out
of schools, because we all know if teenagers don't have
    condoms they won't have sex.

You have to believe that the best way to fight
terrorism is to alienate our allies and then demand
    their cooperation and money.

You have to believe that government medicine is
wrong and that HMO's and insurance companies only have
    your best interests at heart.

You have to believe that providing health care to
all Iraqis is sound government policy but providing
health care to all Americans is socialism personified.

You believe that tobacco's link to cancer and
global warming are "junk science", but Creationism
    should be taught in schools.

You have to believe that waging war with no exit
strategy was wrong in Vietnam but right in Iraq.

You have to believe that Saddam was a good guy when
Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war
on him, a good guy when Cheney was doing business with
him, and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find
    Bin Laden" diversion.

You believe that government should restrict itself
to just the powers named in the Constitution, which
includes banning gay marriages and censoring the
    Internet.

You have to believe that the public has a right to
know about the adulterous affairs of Democrats, while
those of Republicans are a "private matter".

You have to believe that the public has a right to
know about Hillary's cattle trades but that Bush was
right to censor those 28 pages from the Congressional
9/11 report because you just can't handle the truth.

You support state rights, which means Ashcroft
telling states what locally passed voter initiatives he
    will allow them to have.

You have to believe that what Clinton did in the
1960's is of vital national interest but what Bush did
decades later is "stale news" and "irrelevant".

You have to believe that trade with Cuba is wrong because
it is communist, but trading with China and Vietnam is just dandy.

Government should relax regulation of Big Business
and Big Money but crack down on individuals who use marijuana
to relieve the pain of illness.

And, if you are Bill Janklow, speed limits and stop signs
are for OTHER people, not for yourself.

    Life.

Today is a great day. It's sunny, it's not as cold as it was yesterday, my job is going great, and all is right with the world. I have a happy home, a wonderful wife, the best friends a guy could have, a wonderful family, and am on my road to success.

I realized last night that life is taken for granted all too often. I never thought I did, but I do take things for granted. All my worrying over the little things and daily situations, I often look past the awesome life I lead. Things could be much worse for me, but they aren't. I feel truly blessed today, and have since this morning.

@Heather: I love you so much...you have no idea. I wouldn't be where and who I am today without you. I owe my success, my happiness, to you. You're the light in my life, and the warmth in my soul. Thank you. A billion times, thank you.
@All of my friends: I love you all...yes, even the guys, and if I get called gay for that, I don't care. Thank you for being you; for the laughs; and the memories both past and years to come! To all the Juicers, both past and present; to Tom, Jon, Anna, and all the swords group; to the whores from the GK fan base; to my friends in Chi Alpha and CCM; thank you all. I truly could not hope to have a better legion of close friends.
@My family: In recent years, I've really learned what family is all about. I know years have been wasted, but now I know the true meaning of family. I love you guys.

@Corey: Tough times seem to plague you always, my friend. I am truly sorry that I am not able to take the financial medical burden away from you. I'm sorry that I can't do more than I am being supportive. You're like a brother to me, and believe it or not, I've always had your back at all times. I will continue to have your back, no matter what. Good luck on Tuesday. God bless you.

Life can get away from you; the day-to-day problems, conflicts, and happenings can take your attention away from the bigger picture. And so, I take this time to say God bless you all, each and every one of you; good luck in the things that you do; congratulations on every accomplishment; all of you are appreciated, even if I don't show it or say it, for everything that you do.

    Thank you.

And love is not the easy thing
The only baggage you can bring...
And love is not the easy thing....
The only baggage you can bring
Is all that you can't leave behind

And if the darkness is to keep us apart
And if the daylight feels like it's a long way off
And if your glass heart should crack
And for a second you turn back
    Oh no, be strong

    Walk on, walk on
What you got they can’t steal it
No they can’t even feel it
    Walk on, walk on...
    Stay safe tonight

You're packing a suitcase for a place none of us has been
A place that has to be believed to be seen
    You could have flown away
A singing bird in an open cage
Who will only fly, only fly for freedom

    Walk on, walk on
What you've got they can't deny it
Can’t sell it, can’t buy it
    Walk on, walk on
    Stay safe tonight

    And I know it aches
    And your heart it breaks
And you can only take so much
    Walk on, walk on

Home... hard to know what it is if you’ve never had one
Home... I can’t say where it is but I know I'm going home
    That's where the hurt is

    And I know it aches
    And your heart it breaks
You can only take so much
    Walk on

    Leave it behind
You've got to leave it behind

    All that you fashion
    All that you make
    All that you build
    All that you break
    All that you measure
    All that you feel
All this you can leave behind
    All that you reason
    All that you care
    It's only time
And I'll never fill up all I find
    All that you sense
    All that you scheme
    All you dress up
    And all that you see
    All you create
    All that you wreck
    All that you hate
