...Montauk, and "Quill Day" announcement...
Montauk was a lot of fun. And it was also miserably hot. Here’s the breakdown:
THURSDAY: We drove down to Montauk, stopping at Pizza Inn for dinner along the way. Our cabin was sweltering hot, because the AC hadn’t been on all day. We ended up having to go to Heather’s dad’s camper to get a bed for Matt, and the owner came barreling down in his golf-cart with a gun because he thought we were breaking in – he was a very rude, elderly, asshole of a man. (“You know that’s a good way to get shot?! It’s dark, I don’t know who you are…think about it!” – The Asshole Geezer.) We went to sleep as the place was cooling off finally.
FRIDAY: We went swimming, and spent a lot of time at the cabin. Because I’m intolerant of heat, I slept…a lot. We went to the trout hatchery [Montauk is all about trout-fishing, FYI], and boy was there a lot of fish in there. Brad and Jeremy showed up at the time Marcia predicted…they stayed in the camper all weekend down at the camping grounds.
SATURDAY: We spent Saturday chilling around the cabin, visiting the game room, and walking around Montauk. I hope that I never have to walk around Montauk in that kind of heat EVER again. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the trip and had a lot of fun, and I would definitely do it all over again, but that heat was absolutely ridiculous.
SUNDAY: After much debate, we left ahead of Brad and Jeremy and made our way home. We had dinner, got back to our apartment, unpacked, and then Heather and I relaxed while watching Eurotrip and eating ice cream.
@Heather: I had a wonderful time, and I look forward to doing something like it with your family again. I just hope I didn’t annoy anyone with my intolerance of the sweltering heat…
I got a lot of reading done on “Black House”. God, I love this book so far. And it DEFINITELY ties in with the Dark Tower books in ways both subtle and ‘in your face’ obvious. Speaking of the Dark Tower series, I have only two left to read, and my birthday is coming up. I hope to get at least one of them.
August 20th. Say it with me...August 20th. :P
Speaking of my birthday, I am going to want to do something to celebrate it. The perfect part about it is that my birthday falls on a Saturday this year, the prime day for partying (at least for those of us with regular jobs). [Just a side announcement - this year I'm not "sharing". In the past few years, whatever we've done has been, in part, a "joint" celebration due to my birthday being so close to other people's...which has been perfectly fine with me, nothing wrong with it. However, this year I'm going to finally treat it like it was actually MY day and MINE alone. I'm not going to be demanding to go anywhere in particular, nor will I be wearing costume jewelry - but I AM going to be treating it as "Quill Day" exclusively.] Any gifts or presents are - as always - NOT AT ALL required, but will be greatly appreciated, should any of you feel the need to get me something. ;)

That's because I'm not so ego-centric and needy as to declare an entire weekend in my name. ;)
